My wife and were married at the Stroudsmore 7 years ago and go back every year for our anniversary. The food is always excellent as well as the service. The creamy Dijon salmon this year was fantastic.

The Saturday night buffet was good not great as it used to be. The food was over salted which is a way to make things appear to be flavorful. The creamed asparagus soup smelled wonderful but after just one taste I put it aside because it was much too salty. Main meals were also good but as I said not great especially for the price of the meal. Service was great and the waitress was attentive and welcoming.

I stayed at Stroudsmoor Country Inn for what was supposed to be a peaceful one night stay away from the busy city life. I opted to stay in a cottage, ordered room service, had wine, and decided to unwind for the evening. While lying in bed and watching television, I began having this persistent itch on the right side of my neck that would just not give up. I presumed that I was experiencing an allergic reaction to the detergent used on the sheets, but when it became unbearable I eventually retreated to the rest room to look in the mirror. Upon glancing I noticed a cluster of what I thought was hives on the right side of my neck. I then went to unzip my shirt with fears that it had spread, when lo and behold, I saw a bed bug clinging to the side of the garment!!! Without completely managing to go off the deep end, I was able to drown the critter in the sink but keep it there as evidence. Afterwards, I phoned the front desk sometime around 1am, and managed to speak to a very sleepy sounding clerk who was not too amused nor all that sympathetic. He put me in a different room of same value but with 2 beds this time. At that point my nerves were shot, and I never slept in either bed, but sat in a chair with a chaise. I must have gotten 3 hours of sleep that night as any sound or sudden movement made me jumpy. It felt like torture. The first manager that I spoke to in the morning insisted that a $50 credit was all that she could offer. She further explained that she would have to check with her manager to see if something higher could be given. I, of course wanted to be fully compensated, so I waited for her to follow up on this, as $50 was a clear slap in the face for the torment that I went through over night. Later on in the day, the same manager left me a voicemail saying that she was authorized to give me a credit of $71.46. Now some may think that this is better than nothing, but I trust that having a bed bug encounter at a hotel has to be up there in the top three worst scenarios when lodging away from home. If you’ve ever lived through a bed bug encounter, then you know where there’s one, there are more, and you may turn up transporting them into your home. Mr. Fort, refusing to refund me for the full night, insinuates that he failed to be hospitable and take full responsibility that this happened on his property, while acknowledging the lingering hazardous effects that could be had. It also shows that he thinks that some part of my short one night stay was actually of some value after this traumatizing experience. No, these sort of things can’t be foreshadowed all the time, but just know if something of this severity (or worse) does happen on their property, it may be treated nonchalantly. NOT the type of hospitality that I want to endorse.

Absolutely no complaints. From beginning to end, Linda helped us create the perfect wedding. The organizational style of the staff is impeccable, and they all made our planning very easy. The salon is amazing and so is the food. The pictures were breathtaking and it was our best day ever. Highly recommend!

Location, rooms, and service were all fantastic, (other than one surly and irritated bartender; it was a wedding, of course we're going to be energetic). On site bar could stay open later than 10:30 if legally allowable. Room was clean and well appointed.
